Enrichment Offer 2023 - 2024

Our Enrichment Offer

At Upton St James, we are very proud of our enrichment offer for our pupils. We commit to ensuring that our pupils have an engaging and progressive enrichment offer: both during and extending beyond the school day. Please click on the individual year groups to view the progressive enrichment offer we have for each year group. 

 

In Branson class this year, our enrichment will include (but not be limited to):

  • Visit the local library
  • Visit the post box and post a letter
  • Have mystery readers come and read to our class
  • Bake bread and other cookery
  • Visit Cricketfield Garden and grow something
  • Go on seasonal walks
  • Hunt for minibeasts
  • Have lots of opportunities to dress up
  • Make a Christingle 
  • Take part in a parade 
  • Have parents and carers come into school
  • Go litter picking to love our neighbou

In Year 1 this year, our enrichment offer will include (but not be limited to): 

  • Visit the local library
  • Take part in a Mothers Day service
  • Record the weather
  • Visit the coast 
  • Go to Dartmoor National Park
  • Take part in a Christmas performance 
  • Engage in a Design and Technology showcase 
  • Go on a local area Geography walk
  • Have a light and dark experience

In Year 2 this year, our enrichment will include (but not be limited to):

  • Visit the local library
  • Have a light and dark experience 
  • Take part in a Mothers Day service
  • Participate in a Christmas performance
  • Have a sleepover at school (One night)
  • Go on a Geography local area walk
  • Have a visit from the Fire service
  • Visit the coast 
  • Take a trip to Dartmoor National Park
  • Have an opportunity to attend Year 2 after-school booster sessions

In Year 3 this year, our enrichment will include (but not be limited to): 

  • Visit the coast for a Geography trip
  • Take part in a beach clean
  • Learn how a library works 
  • Take part in Design and Technology showcase 
  • Explore pre-history at Kents Cavern 

 

In Year 4 this year, our enrichment will include (but not be limited to):

  • Visit the coast for a Geography trip
  • Have an opportunity to be an Eco-Warrior Leader
  • Access multiplication booster club
  • Take part in a Design and Technology showcase 
  • Explore pre-history at Kents Cavern

In Year 5 this year, our enrichment will include (but not be limited to): 

  • Visit Dartmoor National Park
  • Take part in a swimming gala (selection)
  • An opportunity to be trained as a Play Leader
  • A chance to visit Torbay Children's Parliament and present on a local issue (last year was homelessness)
  • Have a visit from the Fire service
  • Speak out, stay safe (NSPCC workshop)
  • Bikeability 
  • Visit a local river 
  • Take a trip to Torre Abbey 
  • Learn about the Blitz in our locality 
  • Take part in a STEM session

 

In Year 6 this year, our enrichment will include (but not be limited to):

  • Visit Dartmoor National Park
  • Take part in a swimming gala (selection)
  • Bikeability programme 
  • Opportunity to attend additional booster after-school sessions
  • Visit a local river 
  • Take a trip to Torre Abbey 
  • Learn about the Blitz in our locality 
  • Take part in a STEM session
  • Participate in transition sessions and leavers service
  • Make a prayer/ reflection space
