SUSTAINABILITY

The Year 5 children spent a week in March at East Shallowford Farm near Widecome-in-the-Moor on Dartmoor. Sustainability is at the heart of the farms ethos. The children have been taught how to reduce food waste, conserve energy and take care of the animals to sustain local food production. Each mealtime, the children's food wastage was weighed with the aim to reduce the amount of waste they produced each time. Sustainable methods of farming were discussed and the children had to take responsibility with turning off lights and taking a shower in only 3 minutes! Sustainability in action! We are so proud of the children and how they prioritised taking care of the animals before their own needs. A whole week with no devices, locally-sourced produce and amazing memories to treasure! #Risingtoourbest
