Sports Day At Upton!
Every year, we celebrate P.E by taking part in a summer Sports Day! This takes place in July and shows all the knowledge and skills the children have developed and learned over the year. We spend the day in our house teams and score as many points as possible through jumping, running and throwing activities. The house team with the most points at the end of the day wins the House Cup and it sits proudly in our school foyer, showing off the house team colours for the rest of the year!
Keep an eye out on the school newsletter for updates on this years Sports Day!

Play Leaders training
During the summer term, Year 5/6 were given the opportunity to train as Play Leaders and be earn the 'Young Leaders' award. This award helps children develop their leadership skills and be organised, take responsibility when working with others and communicate effectively. These are all core skills that they will use throughout life. The children spent the morning learning theory about PACE (Participants, Area, Communication, Equipment) and FAST (Fun, Activity, Safety, Teamwork). The afternoon was spent designing games that reflected all the principles they learnt in the morning and couple be adapted for the different age groups in our school. They all worked very hard, and received a certificate to acknowledge their well-earned award. Now every lunchtime, you will see our Play Leaders proudly wearing their yellow vests, creating games and sports for all the children to join in and enjoy!
