Upton St. James is committed to safeguarding children and young people and it is our expectation that everyone who works in our school shares this commitment, regardless of whether they are in school on a paid or voluntary basis and regardless of their role within the school.
At Upton St James we use technology and the Internet extensively across all areas of the curriculum and have identified the following article from the UNCRC as being of particular relevance in formulating this online safety policy:
Article 17: The right of every child to reliable information from the media. This should be information that children can understand. Children must be protected from material that may harm their well‐being.

Snapchat - 'My Eyes Only' Feature
There have been reports that this feature of Snapchat is being used to share sexual images. The images are password protected but can be saved and cataloged onto the mobile phone then reposted. In some cases, there are hundreds of images being sent. The Police are aware of this incident and are dealing with it accordingly. Please feel free to discuss this with your child if they are using Snapchat on their phones or tablets.
